Professor Samir Chantre, Professor Kenny Kim, and Coach Dustin "Hotsauce" Waters took a quick trip to Miami this past weekend for the IBJJF Miami Open. Professor Samir has been training hard in preparation for the World Championship at end of May in Long Beach, California and wanted to stay loose by competing in one last tournament before the Worlds. It was a stacked division but he was able to make it to the finals of the Black Belt feather weight division. He had a tough technical match and ended up winning Silver. Professor Kenny also made the trip down a week after Atlanta Open in hopes of getting a rematch against a tough opponent he fought at Atlanta but was derailed in the first round. Last year or so has been tough for Professor Kenny losing almost all of his matches in the first round whether by decision, points, or submission. One thing is for sure, he will continue to compete and put him self out there with the best in the world, at the end of the day jiu jitsu is about persistence and getting back up when knocked down. Lastly, Dustin "Hotsauce" Waters has been on Fire!! As a new Brown Belt he has been competing exceptionally and improving his techniques overall. If you ever notice he is training at minimum 5 days a week and doesn't make excuses when it comes to training. With his recent wins in the last Fight 2 Win pro match and Gold and Silver at the Atlanta Open he was ready to step up his game. Miami was a true test with a stacked division with tough opponents. At the end Dustin came out with Double GOLD winning his division and the absolute didvion!! We couldn't me more proud of accomplishments and is a pleasure having him as a training partner and coach for our team. We have a couple more championships lined up so come join us and let's make history!!
